What other USB cables will you be comparing the Artisan to?

I will be mainly comparing the Artisan Silver Dream to my "reference" usb cable, the Wireworld Ultraviolet USB cable. I also own a few budget/entry level USB cables: Belkin Gold, Monster, Real Cable.
Alister from Artisan Silver Cables mailed the review sample last week, so I should receive it soon I think. I will keep you posted.

I have tried the Kimber, Cardas and NuForce USB cables. To my mind, the order of most transparent and out of the way is 1)Cardas, 2)NuForce, 3)Kimber. The Kimber, while a great USB cable, added warmth to the sound, and Im not sure this is the point of a digital cable. It would seem a digitals cable would be to "get out of the way" as much as possible. Some may think this is the point of a analog interconnect, and it may be, but I think I like my interconnects to add a little and I mean a little warmth, but not at the cost of resolution.

Hi Anime,

I'm seriously considering one of the USB cables from Locus Design. The other two are just too far out of reach for my daily pocketbook. I know these are pretty much out of most folks reach, but I'm building a reference kit and was very curious about these. Of course they get raving reviews from the typical mags.

Thanks!

I have the Wireworld ultraviolet , and I just got an all silver ( Poseidon silver statement from Silnote Audio) . The difference is very big, the Silnote is more musical, detailed, smoother sounding than the Wireworld.
I have also listened to the Kimber and as Kboe said it is warm sounding but very nice; I have also listened to the Wireworld platinum starlight and it is more detailed , dynamic than the Kimber , I listened to those 2 on the same system. Out of all of these I like the Silnote and platinum starlight the best.

Indeed, better USB cables seem make the sound better. However, getting a good USB power supply (there are different ways to do it) and a good async USB converter lessen somehow the effect of the USB Cable. It is difficult to find the right mix of money spent between usb cable, usb power supply and the USB converter itself. In an ideal world, a good USB converter should be immune to such tweaks :)
